For sheer eccentricity in wine labeling, our Cabernet Sauvignon that bears the name “La Sonrisa del Tecolote” should be eligible for some sort of prize (beyond its multiple Gold medals, that is). Translated as “The Smile of the Owl”, the name pays homage to Bill’s Grandmother, who was affectionately known as “Owl” in the family. The owl theme is well represented in our Tasting Room, with a variety of “Tecolotes” displayed (uncomfortably, perhaps) on wine bottles around the retail space. These hand (and finger) puppets provide hours of entertainment (well at least for the staff; probably children would get a kick out of them, too).
