This classicRos é is produced in the traditional Frenchsaignée method, in which some of the juice of the red varietals isdrawn away from the grape skins relatively quickly, picking up amoderate amount of pigment and very little tannin. While the juicethat remains on the skins will become a deeper, richer red wine,what has been siphoned off is fermented to dryness at lowtemperatures in anaerobic stainless steel tanks, retaining thefresh fruit character of the varietals in a crisp, thirst quenchingpackage.

Muchlike the refreshing, dry, Syrah based rosés of southern France,this wine offers an enticing pale pink to salmon color, aromas ofsummer fruits (strawberry, peach & melon) and a crisp, cleanentry. The flavors encompass the fruit bowl, including raspberryand cherry with a touch of the Syrah spice component

The Appellation: 100 % Napa Valley-Rutherford District The Vintage: While complicated by heavy rains in the late winter, a mid-march spring heat wave kicked off the growing season in a big way. Rains continued on an off through June with moderate temperatures overall; growers were forced to drop fruit that was affected by botrytis and mildew resulting in somewhat smaller crop yields. Ultimately, the vineyards got the sun and heat that they needed resulting in good quality fruit. A nose of dark fruits, plum and dusty spice leads seamlessly into the lush, well textured mouthfeel. Deep in berry, cedar and baking spice the wine shows ample ripeness without tipping into the over ripe. TheWine: The legendary Stagecoach Vineyard rises to anelevation of 1700 feet above the eastern portion of Napa Valley'sOakville district, stretching from the western side of Atlas Peakto the southern portion of Pritchard Hill. Cabernet Sauvignon grownon this site is prized for its intensity and complexity offlavor.
A worthy successor to the highly praised 2004 (95 points; Top100-Wine Enthusiast) and 2005 (94 points-Wine Enthusiast) vintages,this 2006 offering is tightly wound with good weight and structurefor the cellar. Given time to aerate in the glass, a classic noseof red fruits (tart cherry, pomegranate) and spice emerges. Theflavors of juicy plum or cherry are accented by bright acidity andfirm yet pliant tannins. The influence of good french oak isevident in the lingering finish, which is redolent of vanilla andcaramel.
