How can I link an affiliate link to a category in our Nexternal store?

I had to change some affiliate assignments. However, the commissions due were not updated to reflect the changes. Please advise how i can reassign the customer to a different affiliate and have that reflect in the past commissions due to the newly assigned affiliate.
