Shipping Cost Calculator
Nexternal Solutions' Order Management System (OMS) contains a robust shipping calculator that allows merchants the flexibility to quote shipping rates to best fit their business needs.
Merchants can use integrated real time shipping rate calculators from one of the major shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS) or choose from one of 10 included shipping cost calculators to ship with any carrier in the world (None, Flat, Price, Weight, Undisclosed, Unit, Quantity, Tiered Quantity, Tiered Price, or Tiered Weight). Should a merchants choose real time rates, they can also add an adjustment (up or down) as either a percentage or a flat rate.
States and countries can be divided into zones allowing the merchant to specify which shipping methods and rates are available based on customer location. Additionally, a merchant can have a combination of real time rates plus a specified shipping structure. This allows for such benefits as having free shipping once a customer spends a certain amount (ex: $100) but real time rates for orders that do not reach that threshold.
Shipping calculations can encompass either one or many ship from locations and can be calculated in total or independently based on the merchant's preference. Shipping can be untaxed, taxed in certain or all states, or only taxed if taxable products are in the package.
States and products can be tagged as restricted with the Nexternal System. This allows merchants such as wineries to sell their merchandise to customers in every state, but limit their wine sales to only a list of approved states.
Products can also be specified to require expedited shipping. This can be quite helpful if a merchant sells frozen products and has customers across the country. Merchants can also specify with foreign countries they ship to and block the others to prevent fraud.
For merchants that sell large products, the merchant can designate that such products ship alone. Merchants can also establish rules to determine the number of packages that will be used to fulfill an order. This helps merchants quote the most accurate rate possible when using real time rates.
Merchants that do not fulfill orders using the four major shipping carriers can setup custom shipping methods. For example, if a merchant has a brick and mortar store, they may want to have a method that says, “Pick up at our Store.”
