Tasting Notes:
In the glass, our Old Vine is moderately intense and has a medium dark ruby color. On the palate the wine expresses a forward Bing cherry flavor with blackberry undertones. The wine shows considerable richness and concentration. The pleasant tannins on the finish will insure this wine will cellar for at least ten to fifteen years. This limited production of hand crafted Napa Valley Estate
Cabernet Sauvignon will be an excellent and valued addition to your cellar.
Winemaking Notes:
The 2002 vintage was a nice long growing season, neither too hot nor too cold. The grapes were harvested by hand in forty pound bins on October 4th, 2002. After two weeks of fermentation the free run was transferred to our holding tank with the remaining must lightly pressed in our half ton basket press. After the settling period, the wine was transferred into French Oak barrels and aged for thirty months, then hand bottled at the winery.
Vineyard Notes:
There is a section of our Old Vine vineyard where the ancient remains of the original path of the Napa River once flowed. When it rains the river still tries to flow where it once did. The rocky, gravelly soil stresses this part of the vineyard. However, these vines produce some of most concentrated fruit that in turn yields a wine that makes us proud to introduce our first vintage of Tudal Estate "Old Vine" Cabernet Sauvignon.
