Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby color, aromas of raspberry, spice and vanilla, bold ripe cherry flavors with well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity. Aged for 10 months in French oak with 40% being new. 807 cases made.
Vineyard Notes:
Founded in 1998 by Richard and Mary Kay Alfaro, Alfaro Family Vineyards is dedicated to the production of Estate Bottled
Pinot Noir and
Chardonnay. The vineyard, located in Corralitos, is planted to 22 acres of various Dijon clones of Pinot Noir.
Winemaking Notes:
The grapes were 100% destemmed and lightly crushed into small, open-topped fermenters. The must was chilled to 55 degrees Farenheit and cold soaked for four to six days. According to traditional methods, punch-downs are performed daily and by hand. After fermentation, the wine was pressed off directly into French oak barrels, where it underwent malo-lactic fermentation and was aged for 11 months on the lees.
