Daryl Groom,our winemaker, crafted this well structured 2008 Pinot Noir with fruitharvested from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria. The wine reflects the quality of theharvest with depth of color and bright fruit, and shows beautiful aromas ofBing cherry, strawberry and pomegranate. Made in the style of French Pinot Noir, its soft, elegant structure andnatural, well balanced acidity makes this a perfect food-friendly wine from apremier California vineyard. Anoriginal Spanish land grant from the 1830’s, the Bien Nacido Vineyard is one ofthe most well known vineyards in California’s Central Coast Region.

This well structured 2006Pinot Noir from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria showsbeautiful bright aromas of Bing cherry, strawberry and pomegranate.Its soft, elegant structure and natural, well balanced aciditymakes this a perfect food-friendly wine from a premier Californiavineyard.

2006 was a good year for Pinot Noir. The growing season was one ofthe longest in recent memory. An unusually warm winter created avery early budbreak and therefore an early start for the vines.Spring rains and mild summer temperatures slowed the vine growthand ripening period and resulted in beautifully ?avored grapes.Very low yields ensured full ripening which brought depth of colorand bright fruit characters to the ?nished wine.

An original Spanish landgrant from the 1830s, the Bien Nacido Vineyard (which translates as'well born') has become one of the most well-known vineyards inCalifornia's Central Coast. Planted primarily to Pinot Noir,Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot, it is the source for some ofCalifornia's most distinguished wines. It is classified as amaritime-influenced desert, with morning fog cover and afternoonbreezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean. The soils consist of sand,chalk and marine loam that provide good drainage, and the climateprovides even temperatures with very little rainfall. Our 2005 Foggy BridgeClassic Pinot Noir represents Santa Maria Pinot at its best. Thecolor is rich and dark, re?ecting the excellent ripening conditionsof that year’s harvest. The nose is quite complex displaying aromasof bright strawberry and cherry with slight forest ?oorcharacteristics. Its ?eshy blackberry and strawberry ?avors arewell integrated with French oak aging to create a rich, full bodiedwine of excellent structure and depth.

2005 was an excellent year for Pinot Noir throughout California andSanta Maria was no exception. The season started with a cool wetspring which gave the vines a very healthy start. Vintageconditions mostly remained cool throughout the growing season,giving the fruit plenty of hang time and allowing the winemakers topick at optimum ripeness. True to its varietal nature, this Muscat comesalive with an alluring nose and ?avors of peach, apricot and citruszest. It is a very pretty, light bodied wine with excellent lengthand balance and a touch of sweetness on the ?nish. The grapevarietal Muscat Canelli is one of the oldest known varietals,dating back to Mesopotamian time. The grapes for this wine wereharvested in the early morning hours and at night to keep the fruitcool and maintain the delicate ?avors. A long, cool fermentationallowed for excellent ?avor retention. This is a lovely wine topair with fruit based desserts such as Meyer lemon tart withstrawberries or also with mild, creamy blue cheeses.
