GeroNova’s 100 mg stable, high-bioavailability R-Lipoic Acid; K-RALA®. 90 veg caps per bottle.
K-RALA® is unmatched in bioavailability and absorption.
Unstabilized RLA can contain harmful heavy metals and residual solvents that are very difficult to remove.
Our proprietary processing of K-RALA® removes all traces of residual solvents from the raw material.
K-RALA® is much more stable than RLA even at elevated temperatures. Heated to over 150° C for 6 hours there is no loss of activity, and polymer formation was undetectable. Pure RLA would instantaneously polymerize under these conditions.
K-RALA® requires no refrigeration and does not polymerize, whereas RLA polymerizes at temperatures slightly above ambient. The polymerization of RLA is accelerated by light, heat and moisture.
K-RALA® does not cause heartburn, indigestion or stomach discomfort, unlike unstabilized RLA.
The shelf life is a minimum of 3 years.
K-RALA® capsules are characterized by fast dissolution rates, high solubility and absorption.
ABSORPTION is the movement of R-lipoic acid into the bloodstream. It involves several phases: ingestion by mouth, dissolution (the breakdown of single crystals into single molecules) in the stomach and small intestine into the absorption cells which deliver R-lipoic acid into the lymphatics, and then into the general circulation of the blood where RLA becomes bioavailable. Without absorption, RLA cannot be bioavailable.
BIOAVAILABILITY refers to the amount (or percent of dose) of RLA that reaches the systemic blood circulation and is therefore available for use by the cells. Bioavailability is dependent upon absorption. In pharmacology, the absolute bioavailability of RLA measures the availability of RLA in the systemic ciculation. This is determined by obtaining a blood plsama concentration over time, referred to as the AUC (area under the curve). Relative bioavailability compares the bioavailability of one product to another. In a preliminary human clinical trial, the AUC for GeroNova's Bio-Enhanced K-RALA® was 50 times higher than that of unstabilized RLA.
There are wide variations in the R/S ratios and total polymer contents of raw material and finished products now on the market. Few supplement companies have experience with RLA and are unaware of the myriad of problems associated with its encapsulation and stability. Bio-Enhanced®, Stabilized R-Lipoic Acid is sourced from the only stable and highly bioavailable form of R-Lipoic Acid available on the market.
