Heritage is a Bordeaux blend that contains the highest quality of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grown in the Monticello appellation. As with all of Keswick Vineyards wines, the winemaker hand sorted the best fruit before the crush. Each varietal was then crushed and destemmed into stainless steel tanks and underwent a five to seven day cold soak before fermentation. During fermentation, the wine was regularly pumped over and racked. Following fermentation, each varietal was pressed and transferred into French oak barrels. The wines were blended after nine months in barrel, and allowed to age for an additional ten months.
This full-bodied estate red is comprised solely of Bordeaux varietals. Deeply pigmented and extracted, the nose exhibits cedar and smoky aromas with hints of plum and black cherry. Matured in 90% new French oak barrels, our Heritage is powerful and voluptuous with well-integrated tannins lending to a long and silky finish. This wine will continue to improve and may be laid down for the next five to eight years.
