2011 MOSCATO
D'LATAH
55% Morio Muskat, 25%
Muscat Canelli,
10% Orange Muscat, 10% Muscadelle de
Bordelaise
Tasting Notes
After a devasting freeze to our
Muscat Canelli vineyards, we began pulling all resources we had to
find a substitute for this Latah Creek grape staple. The
outcome: a wonderful blend of four Muscat family varieties; 55%
Morio Muskat, 25% Muscat Canelli, 10% Orange Muscat, and 10%
Muscadelle de Bordelaise. Even though the Orange Muscat is a
small percentage of the blend, the aromas of citrus immediately
engulf all senses. This wine is delightfully sweet, intensely
aromatic and wonderfully refreshing. The quality of the
Muscat grape grown here in the Pacific Northwest give us the
ability to produce an exceptional Washington State Moscato.
Muscat has always been one of my favorite wines. It's intense
fruit characters are second to none and it's versatility with food
is unmatched. But while traveling in the Piedmonte region of
Northern Italy, Ellena and Mike discovered Moscato. WOW -- a
Muscat finished sweeter and with less alcohol. We knew we
would have a winner if we could reproduce this marvelous treat
using our incredible Washington State Muscat family grapes.
Thus was born Moscato d'Latah. Great by itself or as an
aperitif with light snacks or hors d'oeuvres.

Magazine
"Aromatic and appealing, this perfectly captures the
pretty orange peel and citrus scents of the grape. In the
mouth it's sweet but buoyed by bright acids, the fruit clean and
layered, bringing in streaks of cinnamon, honey, vanilla, and tea
as it rolls into a satisfying finish."
