Madroña Vineyards’ “Quintet” is a classic blend of five Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Individual barrels selected from only the most exceptional lots were blended together to create this full-bodied Bordeaux style wine, rich in flavor and aroma with complexity and depth which speak for themselves.
The 2004 Vintage
So, really. How do you truly enjoy a Quintet? Sometimes it’s dressed in a black tie immersed in an elegant setting. Other times it’s with a crowd, applause filling the hall. Or maybe, enjoyment comes just relaxing back in your favorite easy chair with the perfect set of headphones. Regardless of how you like it, it’s the acoustics and the music that counts!
It’s no different for our ’04 Quintet. Enjoyable anywhere, it’s all in how you like to savor this wine’s big and bold nature. Personally, cozying up in front of the fireplace, big Bordeaux glass in hand, the nose jumps out with an intensity not often sensed in our Quintets. Opulent mountain blueberry and black cherry fruit waft forth from the glass with just a hint of vanilla dropped in. Another foray into the aromas, and I’m greeted by complex hazelnut dipped in rich molasses spice.
is equally enticing, with a richness and boldness that borders on addicting. Full-bodied in texture, this vintage has incredibly alluringly soft tannins, letting the fruit shine. Luscious dark cherry, dense plum and a little sense of good sweet French oak make this blend not only complex, but a joy to drink.
Even with all this verbose wine-speak, it is the balance that makes this wine so special. No peaks and valleys, no sharp edges. The ’04 vintage is simply smooth, with consistent characters throughout.
So, savor this wine however you like, grilled meats and pizza alike. Remember, it’s not about how you enjoy your Quintet. It’s about simply enjoying it!
