<font size="4" color="#c06000"><b>2005 Margerum Syrah Great Oaks Ranch Vineyard</b></font><br /><i>92 six packs produced</i><br /><br />I thought that 2003 was the last vintage of the wonderful Syrah that he was making from the luscious fruit obtained from Great Oaks Ranch. However, he has succeeded in obtaining the fruit once more. The grapes from the part of the vineyard with the limestone outcroppings are small and intense, and the resulting wine is dark and concentrated without being too over the top. Doug calls it, "The perfect wine for Pagan rituals - dark, rich, full, bloody, blousy, boozy, and bombastic." I have the sweet little spot of the vineyard, the top 40 or so plants out of each row from the very middle of the vineyard, I have been harvesting from this little section now for five years. What is so special about this wine is that I have been able to take the grapes from the part of the vineyard that is on a hill with a little limestone outcropping. The grapes from this part of the vineyard are small and intense, and the resulting wine is dark and concentrated without being too over the top. The 2005 is hedonism in a bottle. When you drink it, let some drip down your chin and eat a leg of lamb like a barbarian. This is the perfect wine for Pagan rituals. Un-fined and unfiltered, so don't freak out on me if there is a little sediment - remember: that is a good thing.<br />Two barrels total production = 46 cases and a case of magnums.<br /><br /></P>
