Bright and red color for the 2010 which has a complex bouquet of raspberry, mulberry and cranberry, plus a hint of anise and floral notes. This medium-bodied wine is showing a beautiful texture clean and pure, supported by fine-grained tannins. Well balanced this wine has the elegance, characteristic of its origin and vintage, and leaves an aftertaste of strawberry- rhubarb and quince compote. Its velvety texture is framed by round and elegant tannins; the fruit is persistent and appealing, it has an excellent length with fruit candy aftertaste. This seductive and charming wine is all in harmony and balance.
1789's 2009 is showing well right now and will continue to improve in the next couple of years.

Handcrafted with a lot of respect for the grapes and a low extraction, the wine reflects the elegance and the complexity of its origins. Exuding dark and lush red color, the 2008 lends rich aromas of fresh cherry and black currant from the glass, followed by hints of violets and chocolate. The palate expresses intense red fruit and spices with generous concentration and lovely finesse. The elegant structure is deep, round and polished only to be supported by well integrated, fine-grained tannins. Beautifully balanced, it has a lengthy finish with notes of blackberry and spicy toffee. This venture is run by Isabelle
Dutartre, a French winemaker for nearly 3 decades, including 12 years with
Joseph Drouhin. She began making wine in Oregon
in 1993 commuting between Oregon and France. Now a full-time Oregon resident,
2007 was the inaugural release for
1789 Wines. A very pretty and well-layerednose expresses beautifully
notes of red and dark berry fruit, briar and earth hints. The elegant, pure and
admirably refinedmiddle weight flavors possess a
beguiling and sophisticated mouth feel as well as fine depth and length. This
graceful effort is really quite lovely and worth
considering. And if this is the level of quality that we can consistently
expect from Dutartre, this will be a winery to watch
carefully going forward. 2013+
