Peju Province Winery is proud to present Napa Valley artist Lowell Herrero's newest original painting, "Lavender Harvest II". Inspired by the 50-foot French Provincial-style Peju Tower, Herrero united Peju’s distinct landmark with a beautiful field of lavender in the forefront. Herrero chose the Peju Tower as his main focal point because of its familiar stature throughout the Napa Valley and its whimsical style – similar to the style that drives much of Herrero’s artwork. “Lavender Harvest II” measures 40x48 in diameter.
Herrero has enjoyed an illustrious and diverse career in art. After formal education at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, he immediately embarked on a very successful stint in advertising, illustration and design. He started on the ground floor with a large studio and worked his way to the top, eventually establishing his own graphic design agency. National clients and awards boosted his agency’s reputation and profits, but the three partners, all artists, each yearned to be free of the corporate life. When they dissolved their business, Herrero began a new chapter in his life – one devoted to art.
In 1993, Herrero moved into a new studio on Mount St. Helena at the north end of the Napa Valley. The picturesque location and size of the studio imparted compelling, fresh subject matter for his pieces and allowed him to paint in a large format. In 2001, he settled permanently in the Napa Valley where he and his wife Janet currently live in a Tuscan farmhouse of his own design. He spends each day in the studio painting the beautiful landscapes he sees in his surroundings and in his mind.
