A blend of the three primary Bordeaux varietals - Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. This is the classic example of the blenders art, in which the result is greater than the whole of its parts.
Tasting Synopsis:
Dark fruit predominates a pleasant tobacco/cigar box spice note.
I always enjoy visiting Buttonwood. Beautiful grounds, knowledgeable staff, great art... And how can you not love a tasting room that plays LP's on an actual turntable??
But what I enjoy most is their wines. Elegant. Old-world. In a day when more and more wineries are following the well-worn path of sameness, Buttonwood maintains an independent aesthetic much needed in today's Mondo Vino. Let's raise our glass in a not-so-quiet toast to those brave enough to cut their own swath.
Production: Just 636 cases bottled.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Richly flavored and full-bodied, Trevin is a wine of classic dimension deserving to be paired with a dish of equally classic status. Suggestions include a beef dish like prime rib or filet of beef or the Buttonwood Farms suggestion - coffee-crusted New York roast with horseradish mashed-potatoes drizzled with cabernet reduction sauce.
