<H1>Costa De Oro - 2005 Estate Chardonnay -- SidewaysWineClub.com Shopping Cart</H1> $21.00 -- Very Limited!! A great bargain for a Chardonnay of this breeding. Leans toward the bigger style, but with enough crispness to avoid being cloying. <IMG SRC="https://store.nexternal.com/sideways/images/costa_de_oro_02_chardonnay_300.jpg" ALIGN=right ALT="Costa De Oro - 2005 Estate Chardonnay" NAME="Costa De Oro - 2005 Estate Chardonnay" BORDER=0 HSPACE=10> Owner/Winemaker Gary Burk ferments all his Chardonnay in barrel and ages them "sur lees" (on the lees, the residual yeast cells). This French technique emphasizes the characteristic of "rising bread dough" aroma of great Chardonnays made in the style of white Burgundies. While this wine is not as pricey as the reserve Chardonnay, it may be preferred by those who like their Chardonnay on the crisper side - it did not receive full malo-lactic fermentation as the reserve did, so its mouthfeel is closer to a lip-smacking granny smith apple than it is to triple-cream brie.
