Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich and full, with less (though plentiful) honeysuckle florality than in its youth, but this loss is offset with more complex aromas of tallow and lanolin, a marker for good Rhone white wines.
Palate: Full and rich flavors of apricot and melon, with a pleasant spice note on the finish that creates a warm and lingering fihish like a farewell kiss from one's lover.
The Wine:
The French will use the word "Enchante" (Ahn Shawn Tay) after meeting someone of particular charm. "Enchanted to meet you" is a nice translation. I think the word applies well to this wine, whose enchanting charms reveal themsleves bit-by-bit over the course of the bottle.
A blend of 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne - this wine was inspired by the great white wines of Hermitage, in the Northern Rhone Valley. Dances well when accompanied by rich dishes that resonate to the same beat as this full-bodied wine. Works well with summer fare, but it's fullness helps it work just as nicely with the seasonal foods of fall and winter. If it lasts that long - only 800 cases produced.
Cheers!
