"Elu" means Elected. This tasteful candidate deserves to be elected in '08!"
John Mariani, Bloomberg.com's "Virtual Gourmet" recently wrote about, "St. Supery's award-winning 2004 Elu -- a wonderfully lush blend of 66 percent cabernet sauvignon, 23 percent merlot, 2 percent petit verdot, 8 percent cabernet franc and 1 percent Malbec."
St. Supery ELU is a red blend of bordeaux grape varieties - a Meritage. It represents the best blend our winemaker can make from each vintage. The grapes for ELU originate at St. Supery's Dollarhide estate in Napa Valley, from the best parcels of vines, pain-stakingly cared for throughout the year. The varietal wines receive special attention throughout the winemaking process including extended maceration and extended time in new oak barrels.
The 2004 ELU has aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry and vanilla cream with a touch of cocoa. The fine tannins linger on the finish - this is a generous wine that is enjoyable now and will develop nicely in the bottle should you keep it through 2015.
