PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This is a soft insulated black pouch with fold-over top and velcro closure. It comes with four re-usable (but disposable) ice packs. The case holds at least three 15mL bottles and between 12-20 unit dose vials (depending on size/brand).
From The Dry Eye Remedy, Chapter 4: "Chilled drops feel wonderful on an irritated eye, and you can tell with absolute certainty that the drop has hit the eye so you tend not to waste drops down your cheek…. a study reported in 1997 found that cold artificial tears reduce inflammation and corneal and conjunctival sensation – that is, they're more comfortable for patients. In fact, so many of my patients have been converted to the idea of chilled tears that I developed an eye drop bottle carrier for them – a small, insulated, pocket-sized pouch with enough room for a few bottles. The carrier keeps the tears separate and isolated so the bottles don't get lost in the jumble of a typical purse or briefcase, and it will keep the tears feeling cold for several hours. But I've also made an ice pack to fit the carrier, and this means that the tears stay delightfully chilled all day long. You just have to remember to put the ice pack in the freezer at home each night to get that long-lasting effect. My aim in creating the carrier was simply to make it easier for patients to use the drops regularly… The convenience of the carrier means the tears can be on hand at all times."
REBECCA’S REVIEW
Overall assessment: The carrying case is a nice idea especially for those of us who too often are scrounging in the bottom of our purse for drops. Also, if you normally carry tears in your pocket this is great because it will keep the tears from getting too warm. The idea of chilled drops is wonderful. I also sometimes use chilled saline for eye rinses when my eyes have a lot of burning sensation.
Important note for Dwelle/Dakrina users: Not all artificial tears should be chilled. Please do not refrigerate Dwelle or Dakrina regularly because it will make it difficult to dispense the drops.
