Dark, inky hue. This is our first Thompson vineyard Syrah and it has been quite a treat to make in the cellar. While being a little shy with it’s aromas, it is on the verge of bursting with hints of vanilla bean, crème brulee, cherry, smoked bacon, black pepper, and a dash of rosemary. All of these aromas converge on the rich, concentrated palate. The fine tannins and plush acidity make this wine a treat for 10+ years to come. Decanting is recommended for early enjoyment

This is quite a luscious Syrah, soft, smooth, complex and layered, showing qualities of both warm and cool climates. From the cool end of the spectrum comes a lively acidity and not a trace of over-ripeness. The riper notes of blackberries, cassis, gingersnap cookie and licorice are delicious, enriched by smoky oak. Drink now and for a few years. -Steve Heimoff

Scents of white pepper and smoked meat combine with a lot of fresh herb character in this bright, young Syrah. The dark, meaty fruit lasts along with all the spice. -Joshua Greene

Deeply draughted and solidly varietal with a wealth of blackberry fruit and lovely oak showing at all points, this big, but keenly crafted Syrah is wonderfully layered and exceptionally balanced all at once. Its eleventh-hour acidity is a slight annoyance just now, but with a few years in which to calm and expand, it is all but guaranteed to come into balance and beauty. -Charles Olken
