A crisp, dry
dinner wine highlighting the fruit character of Chardonnay, aged
principally in stainless steel with a graceful hint of oak. This
Chardonnay will pair nicely with shellfish, delicate cream sauces,
and grilled poultry. Named in honor of the foremost horticulturist
and viticulturist of the Colonial period in America, Major John
Adlum lived from 1759 to 1836, in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and
Washington, D.C.. Major Adlum was appointed Deputy Surveyor for the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and maintained a long-standing
friendship with one of his fellow surveyors, General George
Washington. However, it was his strong interest in wine and
winemaking which gained him the most acclaim through his book on
the subject, "A Memoir on the Cultivation of the Vine in America
and the Best Mode of Making Wine,"(Washington, D.C., 1828). He is
well known for having assisted Thomas Jefferson with his
viticultural endeavours in Virginia. It was from his estate "The
Vineyard" (which is now part of Rock Creek Park in Washington
D.C.), as well as from "Wilton Farm," his estate in Havre de Grace,
Maryland that Major Adlum corresponded with Jefferson and sent him
cuttings of different vines. He experimented with varying degrees
of success in growing and vinifying both European varietals and
native American grapes.

Shipping charges are determined by quantity and shipping location.
Shipping is done via UPS Ground. Order arrival times will generally
vary from 4-5 business days for Virginia and nearby states, to 9-10
business days for the West Coast. Some states require us to charge
sales tax on online orders. Applicable sales tax charges will be
displayed during checkout.
