We opened the 1987 ZD Pinot Noir and were pleasantly surprised with its age ability. Upon decanting it gave off the characteristic tawny/brick color of a 21 year old wine. This wine opened up quickly with aromas of herbs de provence, red licorice, white pepper, and a smoky tobacco. On the palate, we were amazed by a distinct red current balanced with a strong and smooth finish. While this wine acts its age in many aspects, we find that it is light to medium body and surprisingly vibrant.
