Understanding Gift Certificate Reports and How They Are Calculated
Question:
When are Gift Certificates reflected on our sales reports? When they're purchased or when they're redeemed?
Response:
It depends which option you choose when creating your Order Reports. If you choose "All" for your report basis, then the report will include all purchased gift certificates. If you choose "Shipped/Outstanding," then it will only include those gift certificate orders that have been sent.
A gift certificate redemption is considered to be a form of a discount, and is handled just as are category discounts, coupon discounts, etc.
