New Loyalty Program Keyword added to Enhanced Email - A new Loyalty Keyword has been added to the Enhanced Email Keyword Term list. When the client uses LOYALTY_POINTS_EARNED in an Enhanced Email template, the number of Loyalty Points that will be earned for the order will display (points earned when order ships).
8/1/2018 -- More Product Custom Fields Added
We have increased the number of product custom fields available in the Nexternal platform from 6 to 20! These popular fields (found in Products / Preferences) allow for deeper product organization and management, storefront searching and filtering, facilitate third party integrations, and more. Read the tool tip for details on Product Custom Fields.Back to top
8/1/2018 -- Product Import / Export Updates to Enhance Category Management
Two columns (Category Number and Additional Categories) have been added to the Product Imports and Product Exports to facilitate product and category management. The new columns allow for product categories to be referenced by number, rather than full category path, when updating or creating new products, and reduces the need to use a secondary import for categories. Additional Categories may be assigned by number in the new Additional Categories column and separated by commas (e.g., 15,10,25) Product order (within the category) may also be indicated in the Additional Categories column and separated by pipe character (e.g., 15|1, 10|2, 25|1). Complete category reassignment, both primary and additional, is now also possible using the Product Import. See Products / Import and Products / Export in your OMS.Back to top
8/1/2018 -- Kit Reporting & Exporting Enhancements
We now offer several new configuration options for clients to track sales of kits and their components in the Product Reports. We also have added the ability to export kit components on Excel Order Exports.
In the Order Management System under Orders / Reports / Product Report, click on the Preferences setting. The Show Kit Products option determines whether kit products (i.e. the kits themselves, not their components) are included in the report, and their prices reflected in the Ext Price column. The Show Kit Contents field addresses the contents. You may choose not to show them; you may use the Separate option to display kit contents as separate quantities from individual purchases of the same item (with the text "Kit Component" in the Ext Price column); or the Consolidated option to display kit components consolidated into a single quantity with individual purchases of the same item (with components counting as $0.00 in the Ext Price column).
If you are using Inventory Control (Settings/Site Options/Inventory Control), the Include Kit Contents option allows you to include the contents of kit products as separate line items, directly below the line item for the kit product to which they pertain. If included, the quantity of the content line items is the total quantity needed to fulfill the quantity ordered of the kit product. The UNIT_PRICE and EXTENDED_PRICE columns are left blank; as are others columns for which the value is not defined at the level of kit contents, or for which the value is necessarily the same as for the kit product.
5/15/2018 -- Modified Send Date of Shipped, Sent, and Ready Emails
Until now, if your system has been configured to send Shipped, Sent and Ready emails (in Settings / Boolean Options / Shipped Email), those emails have been sent immediately when the order status changes to Shipped, Sent, or Ready, respectively. As a result of client requests, we have modified the automatic Shipped, Sent, and Ready emails to be sent on the date indicated as the Shipped/Sent/Ready date used in batch processing, or individual order processing, in lieu of the date on which you are doing the processing, if those dates differ. So, if you are creating a shipping label today that reflects the shipment will go out today, then consistent with past behavior, the email will be sent today. However, if you are creating a shipping label today that reflects the shipment will go in three days, the email will be sent three days from now instead of today.
Batch Processing Shipped/Sent/Ready Email Triggers: When batch processing, the Shipped/Sent/Ready (SSR) date field automatically populates with today's date, but this can be modified by the user. Now, if the SSR Date is the current date or a past date, the corresponding e-mail to the customer is sent immediately. If a future date is used, the e-mail is scheduled to be sent early in the morning of that future date.
Individual Orders Marked as Shipped/Sent/Ready Email Triggers: When Ship orders which are marked as Shipped in the OMS (editing the order, or via Excel import), the fill date dictates when the Shipped email is sent. When Gift Certificate orders are marked as Shipped in the OMS, the Sent date dictates when the Gift Certificate email is sent to the Recipient. The ability to schedule a Ready E-Mail for a future date is a feature unique to Batch Processing. Orders marked as Shipped or Sent via XML tools will also be scheduled appropriately.
Order Changes and Cancellations: If an order is modified (change in products, payment method, address, etc.) or canceled, or if the email design changes after the order is marked as shipped or ready, but before the corresponding email is sent, the email will automatically adjust as appropriate.
Viewing Scheduled Emails: The Customer Emails window (from the Order Detail screen) will report scheduled emails.
5/15/2018 -- Search Enhancements for Identifying Customers and Orders
To facilitate faster order creation and order processing, we've added two new search options to your Order Management Systems. When using the Orders / Advanced Search / Order Search, Customer Number has been added to the search options. Customer Phone Number has also been added to the Customer Identification options when placing internal orders through the OMS.Back to top

1/30/2018 -- Enhanced Emails Beta (Phase 1)
Nexternal's new Enhanced Email module allows for much greater flexibility in formatting emails sent to customers than is available in the standard email system. The contents of each email and subject line in the module are driven by customizable templates. Emails included in the new module include the Order Confirmation Email, Shipped/Sent Email, Ready for Pickup Email, Pending Order Confirmation Email (used in Custom Quotes or Member Choice Wine Club Orders), Order Cancelled Email, and the Gift Certificate Recipient Notification Email. The new system provides customizable text, subject lines, content, fonts, colors, etc.) and a user-friendly image insert function. In addition, it consolidates email controls in one section of the OMS and eliminates the need for email addendums from settings section.
The Enhanced Email module can be activated by navigating to Layout / Enhanced Email / Templates. Email templates should be customized and tested before going live. First, review and customize the default text on each email, and save your work on each email. Use the Preview button and/or the Test button for testing. For efficiency, a Shared Header/Footer needs to only be configured once and is used across all Enhanced Emails. The Keyword Dictionary in the bottom right corner offers an extensive list of personalization terms that can be used. If you currently use any email addendums (currently in Settings / Policies, Addenda and Disclaimers) and wish to continue using this content in your emails, move the contents into the proper email in the new module. Limited invoice table controls are available under Enhanced Email / Settings. To activate, click the Use Enhanced Email (Beta).
Additional notes: All email styling (Enhanced or Regular) is controlled per layout. Use of the Enhanced Email module versus the Regular Email module is also controlled in this manner. Our product roadmap includes adding more emails to this module.

Tags may be added and modified when: editing an order, or updating orders with the Order Update Import. Tags may be exported to Excel using our Order Export. You may search for orders with tags using the Advanced Order Search Operation (Orders / Advanced Search/Sort). To add a tag, type in the box provided and click enter. Click X to remove a tag. 1/30/2018 -- Consolidated Packing Slip & Laser Shipping Label
The Laser Shipping Label template was modified to incorporate a complete packing slip on half of the page, and the shipping label on the second half of the page. Special paper may be used to support peel and stick shipping labels (see https://www.nexternal.com/ecommerce/knowledge-base.asp?Answer=8940). Time-saving and reduces potential for human error when fulfilling orders in large batches because packing slips don't need to be manually matched with labels. This new format replaces our current laser shipping labels print template, but does not replace the existing packing slips (which can still be printed independently of shipping labels). The contents of the new Consolidated Packing Slip continue to follow the same configuration settings rules as independent packing slips (Settings / Site Options / Packing Slips). Note that your browser printing settings control the presence or absence of headers, footers, and will override default sizing (as before with lasers).Back to top

With the Locked to Trigger option, when the trigger condition is met, the product is added to the Shopping Cart only in sufficient quantity to bring the total quantity in the cart up to the Automatic Add Quantity. Reducing the trigger item(s) will automatically reduce or remove the added item(s). The only way to remove the added item(s) would be to remove the Trigger Condition. If the added item is visible to the shopper (based on visibility settings), the shopper is permitted to increase the quantity of the added product as desired. If the added item is not visible to the shopper, the shopper may not increase its quantity. Flexible Lock option is nearly identical to the Locked to Trigger option. However, unlike the Locked to Trigger option, the shopper may reduce or remove the added item with no impact on the trigger item. An example would be a free sample with purchase, where the customer is permitted to decline the sample.Back to top

Using tokens only can be enabled under Settings/Compatible Software/Payment Gateways/BridgePay/Use Tokenization Only. Please keep in mind that by enabling token-only operation, there are several implications to your processes. 1) The token only option will not work if you’re using an integration that requires credit card numbers. 2) If initially enabled and at a later date you decide to switch payment gateways, the stored tokens will not apply and therefore you will not have credit card numbers.Back to top
